Have you considered listing your home during holidays? No? Most people see this time of the year as quiet and slow, well why not take advantage of it, then? We are thinking YES to this one and here’s why:
Be Available All The Time
This is the time when real estate market won’t be crowded, like usual. Use the time when everyone is taking a break, to be one of the rare ones whose house is listed and looks better than ever. Many people failed to find a home of their dreams before winter and have to keep searching. Smart phones and tablets don`t go off during holidays, on the contrary, with everyone on their holiday break, your potential buyers will have more time to browse through internet. Also, beginning of new year is a perfect time to start thinking of a new home and make it a part of a big New Year’s resolution. If someone decides this during holidays, you want to be the first one they come across.
Exterior Holiday Décor
This time of the year gives you the perfect opportunity to make your home literally shine. Days are getting shorter and nights are longer, more time for your Christmas lights to be seen. Decorate your “Sale” sign and draw attention right from the street. Many people are thinking about moving in the next year and your lovely decoration will make them remember the address which they will look up later. Lamps in one or two colors, a garland on the door and some small detail of your choosing that will be seen during the day and this should be it. Don’t put too much, you don`t want to blind potential buyers and you don`t want to cover your house so much that nothing but decoration can be seen. Beauty is in details.
Interior Holiday Décor
Same goes for interior décor you want it to be subtle. If you want to host open House during Holiday season, your guests need to feel the holiday atmosphere inside, they need to picture their next Christmas there. However, if you put a giant Christmas tree with too many colors on it and a large amount of decorations all over the place, this may draw attention and make this room look too small. Be stylish. Use colors that go with the tone of the house. Put some small decorative details in some parts, but not too much. Choose the size of your Christmas tree so that it is the perfect proportion for the size of your living room. Don`t let decorations eat up the lovely space you have to offer. Show them a tiny bit of warm holiday spirit to get their imagination going, but when they move from the living room, show them the real potential of the space that they can fill with their own memories.
Last Minute Improvements
If your home is on the market for some time now, and you can’t seem to sell it, use this time of the year to make changes. Ask for advice on how to improve your offer. Make small adjustments, fix those small things you didn’t have time when you decided to sell the first time. Take new quality photos of your improved space, with more details and update your listing for the New Year.
